VISION CARE ACADEMY

Vision Care Optical Services Private Limited has been known as the leading eye care services provider in Sri Lanka for the last 30 years with over 60 branches island wide and has contributed to enhance the vision of more than half a million people in Sri Lanka. There are over 700 employees working in the Vision Care network guided by Mr. Dasantha Fonseka (Senior Optometrist) as the chairperson of Vision Care Optical Services (pvt) Ltd.

To cater with well qualified professional staff, the management of Vision Care decided to offer in-house training programs. Based on that Vision Care Academy was established in April 2008, and registered under Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) in 2011 and Vision Care Academy was recognized as a full-time member by the Association of Schools of Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) – India in 2015.

Mission

Our Mission is to fulfill our Vision, by providing state of the art facilities for training of high quality optometrists, supported and supervised by academically qualified and clinically experienced panel of lecturers, for in depth learning of Optometry, Orthoptic, Contact Lenses, Low vision, Special testing, Vision Therapy, Rehabilitation and Clinical Research.

Vision Care Academy offers five types of programs for the staff with an internationally recognized syllabus and all candidates are recruited based on minimum criteria of pass marks in GCE Advanced Level. Certificate for Ophthalmic Assistant, Certificate in Dispensing Opticians, Certificate in Audiometry and Diploma in Optometry are the main full-time courses conducted by the Vision Care Academy.

To offer world-class experience in Optometry, Vision Care Academy has modern facilities such as Air-conditioned lecture rooms with multimedia facilities, Library, Practical set up with technologically updated equipment, discussion area, Research unit, and Computer facilities.

Currently, there are over 175 students who have qualified from the academy and are working as professionally qualified employees.
