The Vision Care Academy successfully hosted a special workshop centered around the HESS Chart on August 16th, 2023. The event attracted a diverse array of participants, Ophthalmic assistants & Optometrist, all eager to explore the intricacies of binocular vision functions. Mrs. Chanura Mahindapala (In charge of - Orthoptic & Vision therapy unit / Qualified Optometrist & Orthoptist) led the workshop, offering a unique opportunity for attendees to delve into the complexities of the HESS Chart, a pivotal tool for assessing eye alignment and diagnosing strabismus.

With her extensive expertise as an Optometrist and Orthoptist, Mrs. Mahindapala skillfully guided participants through the nuances of the HESS Chart during the comprehensive sessions held from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Vision Care Academy's auditorium at Mount Lotus Hospital. This event brought together 13 participants from various locations, spanning Matara to Jaffna, and Kandy to Gampaha. The workshop encompassed theoretical insights into binocular vision, practical binocular vision testing procedures including Hess charts, tips on diagnosing based on Hess charts and interactive Q&A sessions.

Mrs. Mahindapala's mastery of the subject matter was evident as she interpreted the principles underlying the HESS Chart. Participants gained valuable insights into how this diagnostic tool contributes to evaluating eye alignment and visual coordination. Beyond its educational aspect, the workshop fostered professional networking and idea exchange, enriching the collective knowledge within the field.
