Vision Care 13th Annual Scientific Session and Optometry Day 2023 ‘A New World with A New Vision’

The Vision Care 13th Annual Scientific Sessions and Optometry Day 2023 commenced with great enthusiasm and a vibrant atmosphere at the Grand Ballroom of Galle Face Hotel on 11th June 2023.

The event brought together professionals, and experts from the field of optometry to exchange knowledge, present groundbreaking research findings, and foster collaboration. With the theme "A New World with a New Vision," the program aimed to provide a platform for in-depth learning, knowledge-sharing, and networking among professionals in the field.

The event was honored to have esteemed individuals in attendance. Dr. Pradeepa K Siriwardana, Consultant Ophthalmologist from the National Eye Hospital Sri Lanka, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honor was Vidya Jyothi Prof. Vajira H. W.

Dissanayake, President of the Sri Lanka Medical Council, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, andChair and Senior Professor of the Department of Anatomy, Genetics, and Biomedical Informatics.

The event was further distinguished by the presence of Prof. Maduwanthi Dissanayake and Prof. Benita Stephens, who added their valuable insights to the proceedings. The program featured esteemed keynote speakers who shared their expertise and insights. Dr. Upali Mendis, a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist, delivered the inaugural keynote, setting the tone for the sessions to follow.

The subsequent sessions covered diverse topics within the field of optometry. Dr. Prem Anand, a Consultant Ophthalmologist, presented on Ocular Diagnostics, while Dr. Lalantha Gurusinghe explored Binocular Vision and Vision Therapy. Dr. Praveen Kumar, a Post-doctoral research fellow at Ophthalmic Pty Ltd, Australia, delivered a session on Clinical Optometry.
